Graduation Requirements


To receive a Beecher High School diploma students must successfully complete the graduation requirements listed below.

English 4.0 
Mathematics 3.0
Science 3.0
Social Studies 3.0 
Physical Education 3.0
Consumer Education/Economics 0.5
Health 0.5
Drivers Education 0.5
Electives *** 6.5+

*    Mathematics coursework must be completed in Algebra I and Geometry.
**   Science coursework must be completed in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
***  Minimum of one credit in vocational education, foreign language, music, or art.   

In addition to the above requirements, the state law of Illinois requires that the United States and Illinois Constitution Tests be passed in order to graduate from high school.  The Illinois Constitution test will be administered in freshmen Civics while the U.S. Constitution will be administered in American History class.

Also, students are required to take the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) and complete two years of writing intensive courses.  This requirement will be satisfied via sophomore and senior English classes, which are typically World Literature & Composition and British Literature & Composition.
