BES Letter from the Principal 9/29

posted Oct 2, 2017, 12:17 PM by Melissa Ohlendorf

We have had a great start to our school year!!  There are some items I would like to take a minute to share with everyone.  First, next week are Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday, October 5th from 4-9 and on Friday, October 6th from 9-11.  If you have not already made an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher, please go to our webpage and follow the link found on that page.  While you are here for your child’s conference, please take some time to stop in the library and purchase something from our Book Fair.  It is never to early to start Christmas shopping!

This year, like last year, we will allow the students to submit artwork to be chosen for both the front and back cover of our yearbook.  Please look for information to come home regarding this.  If you child wishes to participate, there are strict rules that need to be followed in order for us to submit the winning drawings to the yearbook company.  All pictures will need to be turned in the first week of November so we can select two winning drawings.  Last year there were many amazing entries, and I look forward to even more this year.

Attached to this letter you will find a Teacher of the Month Nomination Form.  Each month, we chose a an exceptional student to recognize from each class. I am constantly hearing from both parents and students about some of the great things our staff does that go above and beyond their teacher responsibilities.  I wanted to give all of the parents and students the opportunity to nominate any teacher they feel goes the extra mile here at BES.  Please don’t feel like you need to fill this form out immediately.  I will be looking through all of the  nominations each month and choosing the most worthy teacher.  These forms will also be available in the office and on our website, if yours is misplaced, or if you would like to nominate more than one teacher.  When returning these forms to school, please place it in an envelope with my name on it.  Thank you in advance for your nominations!

As Halloween approaches and with the release of the movie “IT”, there has already been some talk about violent clowns here at school.  Please work with us to remind your child that talking about violence, even if it is imaginary, can be scary to some of the younger students at our school.  Also, as you are planning Halloween costumes, no pretend weapons or masks/face coverings will be allowed here at school.  Costumes should also not include excessive amounts of blood or gore.

As always, my door is always open should you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely, Mrs. Black
