BHS SAT 4/5

posted Mar 15, 2017, 6:50 AM by Melissa Ohlendorf

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, all juniors in the State of Illinois will complete the SAT – a standardized test administered by the College Board that evaluates college readiness in reading, language arts, mathematics, and writing.  Beecher High School’s Class of 2018 will participate in this assessment.  The SAT consists of five test sections ranging from 25 minutes to 65 minutes in length.  Juniors should expect to test for approximately four hours on April 5.  Breaks, snacks, and lunch will be provided, after which students will return to their regularly scheduled classes for the remainder of the day.

Please be aware that the College Board provides free online SAT preparation through Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org).  All Beecher High School juniors have been invited to join this program using their student email accounts and are highly encouraged to complete the practice problems available.  Starting this year, the SAT is a requirement for high school graduation in Illinois.  Scores may be used for acceptance to most college and universities – as well as eligibility for monetary rewards such as scholarships – and will be reported on official transcripts.  Students in other grade levels are also welcome to take advantage of the free learning and test preparation materials on Khan Academy.
