Music Department News

The music department has been VERY BUSY!!

Junior High students Hayden Mohr, Ethan Mohr, and Cadence Johnson – and High School students Samanta Docter, Gwen Docter, and Chloe Zurek – recently participated in the 2019 ILMEA District I Music Festivals. Our students practiced very hard, completed a rigorous audition, and based on those results – were accepted into these amazing music organizations! The concerts were spectacular! We are so proud of you!!

On December 11th, the band and choir students performed at their Winter Concert! The program was a huge success – featuring the 6th grade band performing sheet music for the very first time, the junior high chorus singing a medley of holiday favorites with student-developed choreography, the 7th and 8th grade band playing a variety of seasonal chorales and lively festive arrangements, the high school chorus performing a beautiful acapella rendition of Pentatonix’s “Holiday Hymnal,” accompanied by the students’ driving body percussion, and the high school band performing the popular favorites “The Polar Express” and Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival.” The audience even joined in the fun at the conclusion of the concert with a holiday sing along! We are so proud of our students for all of their hard work in making the concert so special.

Come check out the Drama Club at 673 Penfield Street with their production of “Almost, Maine.” Performance will be on December 13th at 7 pm, and again on Saturday December 14th at 2 pm and 7 pm.

The BES singalong will take place on Friday, December 20th at 9 am at BHS.

Attached is a fun group picture of the band at the concert, wearing their “ugly Christmas sweaters!!”
