The Beecher Community Library will begin its’ 2018 Summer Reading Program, “Reading Takes You Everywhere!”, on Monday, June 11. The program will continue through July 23. There will be prizes for all ages and weekly drawings! Stop in at the Beecher Community Library to learn more. The library is located at 660 Penfield Street, across from Beecher Elementary School. While you are there, ask about all of the fun and educational summer programs that are being offered.
The Beecher School District 200U Board of Education officially hired a new superintendent last night at a Special Board meeting. Mr. K. Bradley Cox (Brad) will begin his superintendency with Beecher on July 1, 2018. Brad comes to us from Erie School District #1 in Erie, Illinois. He is super excited to come to Beecher! He will be visiting Beecher often from now until his duty begins as he helps in finding a high school principal replacement. The district and community welcomes Brad and his family!
The 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony will be held on June 6, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium.
Beecher High School will be hosting an orientation night for current eighth graders (Class of 2022) on Monday, May 21 at 7:00 PM in the Bobcat Den. This session is designed to provide incoming students with information and strategies to help them be successful in their first year of high school. Topics covered will include **the counseling program, grading and scheduling, standardized testing, and tips for success. A member of the graduating senior class will also be present to share suggestions for the Class of 2022.
Fifteen mathletes qualified for state competition. The students are Marley Reilly, Aubrey Barron, Brandon Cleary, Hien Le, Bryan Wang, Emily Cook, Paige Saddler, James Bingham, Sam Ruckman, Andrew DeVries, Victoria Sabino, Julia Kramer, Courteney Gill, Sammy Docter, and Brittany Mazurek. Brandon and James earned a 7th place medal in the Junior/Senior 2 Person Team and Paige and Emily earned 9th place medals on the topic of Trigonometric Equations and Identities.
